“Unlike children born and raised by father and mother, I grew up at SOS Children’s Village Hanoi – that was the first introduction shared by Nguyen Vi Linh, a 2nd year student majoring in Computer Programming at the College of Science and Technology.

From grade 2, because of difficult circumstances, Vi Linh had to leave home and live in the SOS Children’s Village. But over the past 10 years, Linh has always overcome difficulties in study to become an energetic and enthusiastic student in Computer Programming. Referring to SOS Children’s Village, Linh expressed his gratitude to the SOS executive board and mothers for always giving him the best support and taking good care of him.
Nguyen Vi Linh has had a passion for computers since childhood
With the love and passion for the field of technology, from a young age Linh searched, learned, and interacted with websites and forums. In high school, Linh’s dream is to become a mobile applications developer in the future. It is his passion and dream that motivates Linh to choose programming as his future career.
When he was just a first-year student, Nguyen Vi Linh had outlined certain goals to do in his student life. Living independently from a young age, upon enrollment into college, he decided to find a part-time job to pay for his tuition.
“After 4 semesters of study at the College of Science and Technology, learning the basics of programming here has partly answered my questions in the past, making me more interested in this field.” Linh happily shared during his study at the College.
After school time, returning to the SOS children’s village, Linh also helps the mothers here to take care of the children. Every day, Linh spends about 1-2 hours learning more specialized knowledge and practicing foreign languages to stay updated with the latest technology.

It is extremely important that no matter how good your foundation is, if you are not able to self-study, not ready to work hard to improve your programming, you will always be a loser. Opportunities only open to those who really try their best. When you have a good foundation, along with your efforts, you will thrive in your career. Finally, let’s hope Linh will grab as many opportunities as possible to fulfill his dreams.
