Experiential activities to visit Uncle Ho’s mausoleum and President Ho Chi Minh’s relic site by the College of Science and Technology’s students

In the atmosphere of celebrating Youth Month and the the 92nd anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (i.e., from 26th March 1931 to 26th March 2023), on the morning of 25th March 2023, the College of Science and Technology’s Youth Union cooperated with ECS GLOBAL Development of Business Choices and Support JSC (“ECS GLOBAL”) to organize a visit to Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum and visit President Ho Chi Minh’s relic site.

The trip was attended by representatives of ECS GLOBAL along with all lecturers and students in the Executive Committee of the College of Science and Technology’s Youth Union.

The trip aimed at helping students to better understand the great merits of President Ho Chi Minh in the struggle for the nation’s liberation and independence and accordingly fostering the patriotic spirit of each union member while still in college. It was expected that students would be more active and passionate in actively studying, competing and making achievements worthy of the sacrifices of the preceding generations.

The first destination is Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum, where the body of President Ho Chi Minh is located. The construction of Uncle Ho’s mausoleum officially started on 2nd September 1973 at a special location – the old platform in the middle of Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh used to chair large rallies. Not only does the mausoleum serve as the resting place of Vietnam’s revolutionary leader, the entire landscape in the mausoleum area is a unique architectural work and a cultural and historical symbol of Hanoi – the capital of thousands of years of civilization.

The next stop was President Ho Chi Minh’s relic site. After the war against the French ended, this place was chosen as the working place of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State, as well as the place where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked until the end of his life. After his death, this place has become a historical relic and is visited by a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.

The total area of the relic is more than 14 hectares. There are a total of 16 works, with the longest existing work being more than 100 years and the most recent being more than 40 years. Some works of great value in the relic area are Uncle Ho’s stilt house, House 54, House 67, Politburo’s meeting room, Uncle Ho’s fish pond, Mango street and so on.

In each place, the crew listened to the tour guide’s telling touching stories about Uncle Ho’s life and revolutionary activities. The last destinations of the trip were Ho Chi Minh Museum and One Pillar Pagoda. Ho Chi Minh Museum is one of the largest museums in Vietnam. This place focuses mainly on displaying artifacts and documents about President Ho Chi Minh’s life.

The trip ended leaving the students with beautiful memories of an invaluable cultural and historical site of Vietnamese people and helped them to have a better understanding of Uncle Ho’s personality, achievements and contribution to Vietnamese people during the years of fighting for the liberation and independence of the country.

This was also the last activity, ending the series of activities to celebrate Youth Month. The Executive Committee of the College of Science and Technology’s Youth Union hopes that the union members will always maintain the enthusiasm and dynamism of youth, be excellent union members, and take the lead in participating in all activities organized by the Youth Union.
